I was nominated by Dervla from Beauty and Pizza Blog to do the Autumn Tag but I wanted to change it up a bit and make it more original and interesting for you guys to read! I’m not saying that all the Autumn Tag’s I read are boring, just that I personally would like to do it in a different format, in hope that you guys find it much more interesting rather than the usual Q&A style.
So here it is, Autumn is a season I really do love. Things start to feel a little festive, and the cosy colours of red, orange, brown and burgundy come out. Surprisingly I look forward to the dramatic temperature drop since our summers are so much hotter now, it’s nice to introduce the colder days. It also helps to put me in the Autumn spirit and get me excited for Christmas. Lets just get on with my responses and find out what Autumn means to me…
The thing that signifies the start of Autumn to me is when the leaves start to drop from the trees and turn orangey/red colours; I love walking through them and hearing them crunch beneath my feet. Also conkers are a very symbolic thing for Autumn and when I see them nestled into the grass I know instantly that Autumn has started. I get an excited buzz when I see these things because it means we’re going to have colder days and we have to wrap up warmer!
One of my favourite Autumn scents has to be a slow cooking cassorle, most people will be cringing right now, but I love it, especially the flavoursome smell! However, it wasn’t the most glamorous thing to photograph so my next Autumnal smell has to be scented candles, like this Jo Malone one in Wild Bluebell. The smell of candles make me feel so at home and cosy, I love it.
When it comes to the colours of Autumn, I adore them all, but my favourite has to be burgundy. Despite the fact I choose not to buy burgundy clothes, I have a beloved scarf in a burgundy tartern kind of pattern, from River Island a few years ago but they usually bring out similar ones each year. I like wearing it to make my outfit seem more Autumnal and put together. To me burgundy just signifies Autumn altogether.
Something I know not only me loves during the colder months… is hot chocolate. There’s nothing better than a big sexy hot chocolate smothered in whipped cream, marshmellows and flakes, is there? ! It’s just something you gotta have for a cosy night in. However I do feel like I have to be in the mood for one, but when I am, its like the best thing in the world at that moment in time!
Now something else that I would consider to only be apparent to me, partially because no one really watches it anymore, is DOCTOR WHO. This is such a Autumnal/Winter thing for me to do, I think it’s because ever since I was younger I watched it and I’ve got some great memories attached to it, including a few screams and nightmares! I literally can’t wait for it to come back on TV again and watch the Christmas special! My perfect scenario is to be snuggled on the sofa with a blanket, some popcorn and obviously watching Doctor who; the best popcorn going at the moment has got to be Propercorn– this stuff is good, trust me. A huge thank you to Propercorn for sending me some, you made my day!
Every season I love seeing what the new trends are, especially in Autumn as it’s my favourite season to dress for! As for this years trends, I’m loving the come back of the leopard print incorporated with mohair. I recently purchased a leopard print belt from Pull & Bear and I’m honestly in love. I think it’s such a sassy but classy trend and looks so cool when styled right- lets just get that point across, it definately has to be styled right! I really want to get a long line coat (as seen in my Autumn Wishlist) and maybe some ankle boots in this pattern, but I’m just going to keep on dreaming…
In Autumn I love to do things that don’t cost money and are still enjoyable, like baking, carving pumpkins, going on walks in the park. My favourite thing to bake in the colder months is an Apple Pie/Crumble, maybe even with some blackberries in, it’s delicious! I love carving pumpkins with my little brother for halloween, it’s such a festive thing to do, plus it’s pretty fun and messy! I’m lucky that I live right next to a park, as going for a Autumn morning walk is definitely an option, it’s so refreshing and calming. Another thing I enjoy doing is sitting snuggled up in bed watching some fireworks on bonfire night, this is such a magical thing and personally I really enjoy watching them.
My go to makeup look for Autumn has to be a orange, brown crease with a darker brown outer ‘V’ and a pale shimmer shade in the centre/ inner corner. I created a similar look, but more glam (pic above) in another post called Get Glammed Up This Autumn if you want to see how I did it please click the link! This look is what I am reaching for most days, just a little more toned down. For my lips I tend to go for a browny nude shade, one that I have been loving is my Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream in Abu Dhabi.
Thank you to Dervla for nominating me to do the Autumn Tag, despite me bending the rules a little I hope you enjoyed reading mine. And thanking you to everyone else for reading!
