In life I think that it is so important to focus on the positives and not the negatives as well as the things that make you happy Whether or not that’s tiny things that sound pathetic to other people or even huge things that involve a lot of time and money (holidays). You should recall whatever it is and maybe involve it in your everyday life again as it may make you feel happy!
I don’t want to make this a sloppy, corny ‘happiness’ post, I just want to share with you what makes me happy on a day to day basis. Some of these things may sound silly or may even be relatable to some of you but either way it doesn’t bother me as these are things that make ME happy.
Something new that has entered my life recently is my interest to buy plants for my bedroom. When planning to decorate my room I thought they’d bring so much life and colour into my plain white room, and they did exactly that. The greenery makes the space seem polished and lighter, I love them. At the moment I have six variations of real and fake plants and definitely intend on getting more!
2. New/cute phone cases
Pathetic I know but because I’m super safe and protective with my phone I can afford to have a really nice case rather than a bullet proof brick one as I know I’m not going to drop it 24/7. A company reached out to me called iconemesis and said I could have one of their super cute phone cases and I’m loving it, every time I go to pick up my phone (which is a lot) I just love it even more. It’s a hand drawn feather print and it is a hard back with a soft kind of silicone texture to it as well so it doesn’t slip out of my hands which is always great! They do all sorts of other cute phone cases so go check them out!
3. Reading magazines
I’ve always loved just slouching in bed or on the sofa and reading a magazine, I especially love it when my Mum comes home super unexpectedly with a magazine for me and I’m so happy I start jumping up and down (even more if it has a freebie). I love reading about the latest gossip and fashion/beauty trends, and aspiring to be like some of the famous fashion and editorial icons you see in there. I don’t know why they make me happy but they just do!?
4. NEW THINGS
When I buy things that I absolutely love and there just aren’t any faults with it, it makes me so happy! There’s nothing better than doing your research and getting that pair of trustworthy boots that your so pleased you did, or finding a real bargain that your unsure why it was in the sale in the first place but its great you’ll take it and getting gifted makeup you’ve wanted for months but couldn’t quite justify spending that amount on makeup for your self, ahhh it’s a good feeling. However it’s not so good when you’ve brought something that you highly regret buying, that’s why I always make sure I’m going to love it and that it’ll make me happy.
This one I cannot live without LOL, in my world everything has to be organised or I start to panic slightly and get stressed. I mean it’s not mega organisation, it’s just a bit above what the average person might do *eek. I recently brought an 18 month planner where I can plan on a weekly basis, write to do lists and see my whole month ahead, I love it as it makes me feel productive and organised and in the long term happy! I don’t have to worry about what days I’m working or when my homework is due in as it’s mostly all written down, so it works well at minimising my stress. Planning and being organised it a great way to make yourself feel calm and relaxed about life, I guess that is why I do it.
6. Wall art
To some people wall art quotes may seem really cheesy but I personally like them, they are fun, quirky and inspirational.I recently brought some awesome ones off Coconut Lane and am currently in the process of putting them up. I love the fact that when I walk into my room they’re there facing me on the wall which puts a smile upon my face as it reminds me to work hard in life and to…blah blah blah you get the jist. They are just a little something that makes me happy.
Of course my family makes me happy the most out of everything and anything. Spending time with them and having everyone together laughing and enjoying themselves is really nice. In most families there are always a few hiccups that get in the way but you just have to ride over those and really cherish the good times. Whenever I’m having a bad day or feeling a little low I always turn to my family and they do a great job, without them even realising, at cheering me up. Isn’t that what family is for?
8. When my skin is CLEAR!
It makes me feel so good when there are barely any spots on my face and my sin is more a less clear, it’s so satisfying. I put so much effort into making my skin look good so that when it decides to not grow a football on my forehead I’m very very pleased and feel much more confident looking in the mirror. Some products that have helped are Dream Dots and St Ives peach scrub, I love these guys they work wonders on my skin.
9. Going outside
Either it’s just me and another person on a chatty walk or I’m out for the day, it’s just nice to be in the open air. I’m not a long walk/hiking lover but I do like to go just a little way and sit on a bench and reflect on things. Exploring bits of parks or forests is always fun with my little brother, it brings back my childhood days which is lovely to remember.
Now onto my last one, blogging really does make me happy, I enjoy it so much. The feedback and the comments I get is so overwhelming and it really does help me to carry on. There’s something about writing to someone (even know one), so refreshing and strangely relieving as you get to let out so many feelings and opinions. It’s not like you can just go up to someone and talk a whole blog post at them so it’s nice to get it all down in the way in which you like. I hope to be happily blogging into the future.
That ends the little things that make me happy post, I hope you’ve regained some of the things that make you happy and can focus on those not the negatives in life. Thank you for reading, sorry if this wasn’t your cuppa tea!
