For a very long time now I’ve had an image in my head of having a grand ‘tumblr’ picture wall, I’m not the only one right? After lusting over Gabbi’s (Velvet Ghost – YouTuber) beautiful picture wall in her vlogs, it made me really want one of my own. In today’s blog post I am going to share mine with you all and advise you on how you can create one!
I have recently been working with Desenio; a company who supply the most amazing Scandinavian prints at very reasonable prices. Without them I simply would not have been able to create the picture wall of my dreams. Scandinavian design posters and photo style prints seem to be the rage at the moment, and I can see why because they are so stylish and cool! Desenio have tonnes of prints to choose from, including typography/quote posters, floral prints, even Bansky Art. Their extensive range has just got everything covered!
So as some of you may know, I LOVE interior design and making my room look as good as possible (read my Room Tour blog post to get an idea of what it looks like). I was honestly spoilt for choice when it came to choosing my posters from Desenio, but was particularly drawn to the pinks and floral/plant style ones. This probably explains my reasons for choosing my two favourites; a pink tulip and a close up cactus shot. I just knew they’d go really well with the colour scheme in my room.
I also chose this quote print which reads: “Feelings are much like waves, we can’t stop them from coming but we can choose which one to surf.” I paired this with the black and white image of a wave as I thought they complemented each other well. I love having prints like this on my wall to remind me to look after myself and my emotions.
To the far right I have a cute little piece of art work done by artist Annabel Dover, shop for her work HERE. It is a beautiful floral milk jug (I believe) with gold foil detailing, I love it!
The frames are also from Desenio and are such great quality! I wanted to go for a variety of different frames to liven up my bland wall. My favourite are the gold frames also from Desenio as I think they look so good against my white wall! Once you’ve added a print to your basket it pops up with a notice of the right size frame to buy, in four different colours, making the whole experience super easy!
How To Make Your Own Picture Wall:
- Choose prints of a similar style – Desenio have a Gallery Wall Inspiration page making it very easy to find prints with the same style and colour scheme. I would suggest choosing 2-3 colours maximum to avoid a busy look. Another tip to see if your prints are of a similar style is to look at your ‘recently viewed items’ section at the bottom of the page.
- Already have several pictures that don’t match stylistically? – Try using the same frame to coordinate them in colour and style.
- Mix up the sizing – In order to give that ‘picture wall’ effect you want to choose prints of different sizes. I would suggest getting one large one and then a few more of smaller sizes.
- Plan before you hammer! – Lay the pictures out on the floor and combine them until you find a pattern that you like, or use washi tape to temporarily mount your pictures on the wall. This way no/less mistakes can be made! Also I would suggest doing this part with someone who can stand further back to see if the position is okay.
Desenio has kindly given me a 25% off code: ‘TILLY25‘, this excludes the ‘handpicked’ category and frames, but it still offers a vast amount of posters for you to kick start your gallery wall! I hope you enjoyed today’s post, I think I am going to be doing more interior posts as I really love creating them and I think you guys love reading them – am I right?
