Since Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, quite literally – I thought it would be nice to tell you how I would get ready if I had a lil’ date, which I don’t LOL. If you’re reading this thinking hang on minute Tilly you’re 16 years old why are you doing a Valentine’s post?! I mean some of my friends will be going on dates this week and it’s not like I haven’t gotten ready for a date with ma girlfriends before! – but that’s not the point. I recently discovered an amazing versatile product called Dr.Lipp who were kind enough to send me their wonderful lip product and I really wanted to share it with you. So I thought why not turn it into a ‘get ready with me’ because I love watching these types of videos and I’ve never read a blog post version of one before, so let’s give it a go!
Firstly lets talk about Dr.Lipp, originally this product was made simply for the purpose of a nipple cream, I know I know, at first I was like what the ffffudge but once I read up on it I knew it was going to be a product that I’d like. So basically what it does is; effectively softens, nourishes and treats all types of dry skin from cracked, sore, sensitive, itchy or burnt. It can also be used for makeup, creating glossy lips, cheek shine, taming brows and many more..
The first thing I like to do before slapping all that makeup on my face is prepare my skin. I do this by giving it a throughout wash with my Aloe Vera Hand and Face Soap – this stuff is great at taking off makeup and cleansing your face in general. Then I’ll moisturise my skin with Dr.Lipp, I tried this the other day and it worked amazingly! It feels super thick and abnormal at first but once rubbed in, your skin feels so smooth and ready for it’s first layer of makeup – yes it works a dream as a primer! I also slap a bit on my lips as I’m planning on wearing a matte lip so I want a smooth and moisturised base.
So since it was specifically for Valentine’s Day I decided to go for this cranberry, shimmery eye look – I am not going to go into full detail of how I created the look (saving that for Wednesday’s blog post!) because this post would be 9316328162 words long! But I will tell ya a few bits – for my base I used Aloe Vera BB Cream which I’m absolutely loving at the moment, with Collection Concealer (no surprise!) and Rimmel Stay Matte Powder. Another way I have used Dr.Lipp in my makeup look is to stick on shimmery/glitter pigments. I find it really annoying when my eyeshadows look so shimmery in the pan but when I put them on my eyelid they turn in to nothing and practically fall down my face throughout the day. That is why I turned to Dr.Lipp to keep that glitter in place – a little on a brush, dabbed onto the eyelid before application of your glitter works perfectly! Who wants to be constantly checking their makeup on a date?! Not me.
*Stay tuned for a blog post on this makeup look on Wednesday – It’s a collaboration*
I decided to go for something that I would wear out on a date, but by all means wear whatever makes you feel confident. This consists of my Bershka shirt/blouse under my Topshop Velvet Pinafore (which featured in THIS POST), I think this combo is rather sweet and me. I may have choosen this shirt because it had love hearts on it 😉 …at least it fits into the Valentines theme! And I love this sleek black pinafore (I seem tp be loving these at the moment!). I paired this look with my H&M shoulder bag and my New Look Loafers.
4. Perfume and Nails
This last step is a must but also such a cliche for a typical get ready with me, so I do apologise. A girl can’t go on a date without prestige nails and a spritz of perfume can they? So what I like to do is spray my fav fruity perfume, Jimmy Choo ‘Blossom’ as it’s suuuuper girly and I love it. Then I’ll sit down, leaving myself about an hour before I have to walk out of the door and paint my nails. If I have time I’ll give my cuticles and hands a little slurp of moisture with…by no surprise…my Dr.Lipp – this helps to keep them looking like a salon manicure when really it’s a quick 10 minute jobbie! But shhh no one has to know that! For this post I decided to paint them with one of my favourite H&M polishes – ‘Ballet Slippers’.
Other ways to use Dr.Lipp:
- Night treatment for any dry bits *anywhere* and yup even ya nipples if ya like. That’s what it’s made for!
- Healing cuts & burns
- Eczema areas to relieve itching
- Soothe and calm nappy rash
- Under the eyes
- The glossy ‘on trend’ eye look
- Flyaway hair – smooths and hydrates
- As a barrier around your hairline before dyeing your hair – who would have guessed?!
So really this stuff is a multipurpose, travel friendly, solve all your beauty problems in one tiny tube, miracle product! It’s scent free and discreet. If you want to find out more click HERE.
