I don’t know about you but my skin has been going through a bit of a roller coaster – wild one recently. From random patches of dry skin to annoying breakouts (big time!), I blame it all on the weather! Maybe not all, as throughout December I wore a lot of makeup due to family events and multiple christmas meals, oh and don’t forget the horrendous eating habits I got into which with a combination of that, the temperature drop and the constant drifting in and out of warm and cold places, has made my skin look not so good. I’m sure we can all relate somehow, I mean it really doesn’t help our skin with these 3 degree temperatures messing up the moisture balance! If your skin is totally fine and unaffected by the cold then don’t worry, these products I am about to talk about are good for any skin type whatever the crisis!
Without having a moisture overload, Avene’s Light Hydrating Cream is perfect to wear mornings and night as it keeps your skin moisturised all day and all night. It sinks in straight away leaving a smooth base perfect for makeup, I have been using this stuff ever single day since I purchased it and I highly recommend it for a constant top up of moisture, without feeling too greasy for makeup. If your anything like me I tend to get dry flakey patches on the surface of my nose however this area tends to be quite oily (which doesn’t make sense I know!?) so I don’t like heavy moisturisers as it makes everything way too oily, therefore this light cream is great as it’s gotten rid of the flakey patches and kept everything at the right kinda balance – now thats my kinda moisturiser! 🙂
As I said at the start, I recently suffered a great spot attack which I think was due to my pores being clogged up with makeup and eating badly over the festive period. I received this amazing product for Christmas which came just in time, in fact I used it on the very same day I received it as my skin was crying out for help, it’s The Body Shop’s 3 in 1 Wash-Scrub-Mask. It’s great when using as a mask as it gives you a slight tingling sensation (the tea tree oil) – you can really feel it cleaning out your pores, it’s rather soothing. Because it’s a scrub it removes the flakey dead skin cells leaving your skin very smooth – it’s so good for sensitive skin too which is what I have and my skin doesn’t flare up which is a bonus!
I bought this oil because Hannah Gale recommended it in one of her blog posts and all I can say is THANK YOU because I never would have tried it if it wasn’t for her blog post dedicated to the Sanctuary Spa’s oils. The one I use (they have a few to choose from) is the Therapist Secret Facial Oil and it simply works wonders on my skin. I don’t use this every day, I tend to use it when my skin is in need of a quench, it will leave my face feeling so smooth and nourished, I would definitely recommend this product if you want to tackle dry skin this winter!
I love these things. The hydrating mist I am obsessed with right now is the Pearl Essence Coconut Water (which I think after doing some research is only available at TKmaxx), you may have seen this/similar products floating around Instagram recently, that’s because it’s pretty damn good at what it does. It provides you with a top up of thin moisture whenever you need it, I sometimes use it after I’ve gotten out of the shower and my skin is all tight, before makeup and during the day. It’s nothing amazing I will admit, however you can definitely feel a difference in your skin before and after applying it, plus it’s good at keeping your skin hydrated all the time during these colder months.
