A Christmas Tradition

A Christmas Tradition

Me and my family have a small Christmas tradtion we love to do every single year. There are a few things we always do and I would love to share them with you guys so that maybe you could do the same with your family?…

Firstly we head out to lunch and have a mighty pub grub, I choose to have a roast dinner this year and I wasn’t disappointed it was very yummy! We always have a good laugh and a chat about things and spend some quality family time together.

Every year without fail we go to a garden centre with the best display of baubles I’ve ever seen in my area, there is so much variety! This year after we’d finished our delicious lunch we waddled over (only across the road!) with rather large bellies and each choose a bauble to put on the tree. I always get so excited for this, it’s nice to do it as a family. There is lots of different colours, animals and shapes to choose from, it takes me a good 15 minutes as I am so indecisive!

We also have a wonder around the gardens, possibly choose a new holly wreath and have fun playing hind and seek in the Christmas trees, which by the way is so much fun! You’re probably all wondering where buying a Christmas tree comes into it all at this point, but we don’t actually buy a real tree (I’M SORRY!) as we’ve always used our big, trusty, fake one from Homebase which does the job!

Oh yeah! I almost forgot, we couldn’t leave without visiting Santa’s grotto. Of course not for me but for my brother, he loves it. I love playing along with the ‘Father Christmas is real’ idea; it keeps the festivity in the family, as long as he believes in it for as long as possible I don’t mind!

Once we’ve bought the decorations, we head home and of course put them on the tree together. This is like the finishing touch to our tree as it would have been put up before hand. I love doing this with my brother as he finds it all so exciting which takes me back to my Christmas childhood days. It’s so nice to be able to do this with my brother as we create and remember lots of memories each year. It’s a funny tradition of ours to keep onto the decorations made by me, my sister and my brother at nursery and use them until they are literally holding on my a thread! This includes cut out paper Angels dazzled with glitter and a tiny pencil mark of T.B (my initials) or a decorated snowflake carved out of the best safe scissors in the world (NOT, who remembers nursery scissors being impossible to cut anything with!?). It’s always such a laugh when re-discovering these every year, and it’s nice to put a new bauble up every year.

That’s more a less all it for my family Christmas Tradition, I hope you enjoyed reading all about what we get up to each year. Have a wonderful Christmas everyone, don’t worry I’ll be back next week with another post. Thanks for reading!

Tilly Rose x

Picking out a bauble is such a lovely tradition! I always love hearing how other people celebrate Christmas as every family is different!
