After signing up to the Seventeen Blogger Network (which is such a good opportunity) I was so surprised when Seventeen contacted me asking if I wanted to try out some of their products- I was like hell yeah! They kindly sent me two palettes, one being a beautiful red/nude/metallic lip palette and the other being a face palette. I haven’t yet owned a lip palette therefore I was so excited to try one and I love discovering new powders and concealers so I was eager to try that as well.
I am going to be doing an honest review on these two items as well as how they can be used together – a little beauty hack I mentioned in one of my blog post’s a while ago, so keep on reading to find out what that could be?…
All Out Pout Lip Palette in ‘Woo Me’
This palette is gorgeous, it includes 3 red toned shades, 1 being a deep red, 1 a bright ‘true’ red and the other a more orange toned red. Then there is my favourite colour which is a nude ‘your lips but better’ shade, it’s sooo nice! Lastly there is 2 metallics one a gold and the other a more peachy shade. The metallics can definitely been used with the other shades, which I know is on trend in the beauty world right now- metallic lips. The palette comes with a ‘hints and tips’ booklet which is so handy and it helps you to create an ombre lip, which is surprisingly avchievable with this palette.
However when I swatched these on my arm they came out very pigmented but once they were on my lips they seemed to loose this a little. The darker colours came up as a sheer layer which I was disappointed about but I wasn’t expecting AMAZING things as they are an inexpensive drugstore brand. Although some of them are not as pigmented, they give of a nice subtle tint which is really nice, I like to wear them if I’m going for a more natural look. These shades are all glossy which I love as I have very little non matte shades in my collection. My favourite shade altogether has got to be the pinky nude it’s so gorgeous.
Let’s Face It Palette in ‘Fair’
This is such a cute little palette with all the stuff you need, so it’s very convenient. It contains two concealers (pink and yellow toned) which you can mix together to get the desired shade, a pinky nude creme blush and a face powder. I did struggle when trying to get the right shade of concealer but I’m still trying to find the right balance of pink and yellow. Other than that the concealer does a good job of covering pesky spots in a natural way. The powder is great, its a fine smooth powder that works very well under the eyes and the creme blush is in a lovely shade which I think will be lovely for the Spring.
I love the sleek black and white matte packaging, it makes it so useful to travel with and easy to clean. Plus the outer packaging is adorable, its so unique and fun, so definitely check that out in store! However I would say its a bit tough to get into and open the lid, but that’s probably because I’m so pathetic when it comes to opening things!
Now onto the hacks…
The first awesome hack is to use the Seventeen face powder and a shade from the lip palette of your choice to make it appear matte. You can do this buy taking any kind of eyeshadow brush, patting it in the powder then straight onto the lips. After dipping it into the powder you may want to tap of the excess so your lips don’t appear super powdery. I have tried this and it works! However with the true red shade it made my lips look a little pinkier as the powder is light, so choosing a darker red would be a better. I used this hack in an old blog post of mine click HERE to see that.
Another hack I found out from using this palette, it turning the metallic lip shades into highlighters! This actually works so well, its literally like having a creme highlighter. I like using the peachy shade as it suits my pale-ish skin tone much better.
Overall I think Seventeen have done well on the lip and face palette front, I’m impressed, especially for such an affordable low end brand! To purchase these, they are available from Boots only, the All Out Lip Palette is £7.99 (the link takes you to the right palette however the wrong pic, I know so confusing). The Let’s Face It Palette is £5.99, another great bargain. Boots are offering buy one get the second half price on selected Seventeen products, I would defo use that deal!
I would recommend trying both of these! And I would love hear if any of you have tried the hacks out, if you do then please contact me I’m @lifeastillyrose on Twitter and Instagram.
Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed this post, I haven’t done many reviews on the blog in a while!
